Brittany CoxXx, born in New Orleans on July 19, 1978, was an American gay and transgender pornographic actress. CoxXx had a successful career in gay pornography under the name Stonie before transitioning from male to female in late 2005. She made a cameo appearance in the 2006 film Borat.
Among the praise he received, he was described as the Kate Moss of gay porn and “the guy with the hottest ass.” In fact, Mickey Skee described the star as “one of the hottest asses in the business since Joey Stefano” and Jason Sechrest commented that he was an “insatiable super ass with unmatched sexual desire.” His work often included “dictatorial dads” and authoritarian, disciplinary, or military themes.
In 2006, the controversial comedy Borat, starring Sacha Baron Cohen, was released. In what was described as one of the best gags in the film, the central character Borat Sagdiyev shows photographs of himself with his son Hooeylewis, supposedly 13 years old, played by Cortez, to an etiquette teacher. In one of those photos, Hooeylewis appears naked and “cradling his father in his arms,” while in another, “Borat is crouching down, giving a thumbs-up to a close-up of his son’s large endowment.”
Stonie’s last appearances in gay porn were filmed in 2005, although these works continued to be released until 2006. Her transition began in late 2005 and lasted approximately one year, after which she adopted the stage name Brittany CoxXx. In early 2008, agent David Forest confirmed her return to adult film productions, with her first performance being in Brittany’s Transformation, in collaboration with Barresi, whom she trusted and respected after their previous work together.
The film Brittany’s Transformation told the story of her transition and was well received. Barresi organized the financing for the film and decided to include old footage of Stonie to tell the story of her transition. Barresi described the film as unlike any other transgender film made before.
The film was nominated for Best Transgender Film at the 2009 AVN Awards, and CoxXx was nominated for Transgender Performer of the Year. Speaking about Brittany’s Transformation, CoxXx commented that “since this is my first film as a woman—with my new body, which I love, by the way—it’s a totally new experience on screen for me and for viewers.” In the film’s final scene, she paired up with Christian XXX.
J.C. Adams commented that CoxXx’s transgender performance “may be the first time a gay adult actor has undergone the change and reappeared as an MTF actor. Jason Sechrest claimed that CoxXx was the first to transition from gay actor to transgender actress, describing the film as “groundbreaking,” but transgender adult actress Stasha did so in the early 1990s, drawing attention after previously acting in gay porn under the names Angelo and Steven Moore before changing to Stasha.
According to Gay Porn Times editor J.C. Adams, the report on CoxXx’s transition was among the 10 most popular stories the magazine covered in 2008. Chi Chi LaRue commented on the difficulties CoxXx faced, noting that “she was happier once she transitioned,” but many “people did not show her support or respect her decision.”
CoxXx left the adult industry in 2009 and moved to Florida, where he spent several months in the hospital battling hepatitis B and liver disease. In January 2010, it was reported that his hepatitis was nearly undetectable and he was recovering well. In September, CoxXx was reported to be fully recovered and made a live appearance at Micky’s in West Hollywood, California, stealing the show. CoxXx started a business in Fort Lauderdale, Couture Visions Photography, which she owned and operated until her death.
CoxXx died at Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 6, 2016, at the age of 38.
